What materials can be used for the cutting teeth of the coal mining machine

When cutting coal and rock, the cutting teeth continuously improve their bearing capacity due to the compressive stress, shear stress, and impact load from different coal seams and rock layers in China. Although the hardness of coal is not very high, it often encounters hard minerals such as coal gangue. During the cutting process of coal and rock, due to economic friction and impact, the temperature of the cutting teeth will gradually increase. When working in such a complex working environment, the cutting teeth need to have both high wear resistance and good impact resistance. Therefore, the cutter body can generally be made of a low alloy structural steel material.
From the perspective of imported and domestically produced cutting teeth that some domestic enterprises actually need to use for coal mining work, the material of the cutting body is generally 42CrMo, 35CrMnSi and other steel types. There is also a coal mine that uses Si-Mn-Mo series quasi bainitic steel newly developed in China.
35CrMnSi steel is also a material with good hardenability. By appropriate heat treatment, comprehensive mechanical properties such as strength, hardness, toughness, and fatigue strength can be obtained.
Si-Mn-Mo quasi bainitic steel is a new type of cutting tool body material developed by domestic enterprise research units. Its characteristic is that it can be reasonably planned and designed through alloy composition, making the material have well-developed heat treatment process system performance. After heat treatment, the strength, toughness, and wear resistance of the steel meet the requirements of cutting mechanical performance indicators.
42CrMo steel has the characteristics of high strength, good hardenability, good toughness, small quenching deformation, high temperature creep and fracture strength. After heat treatment, 42CrMo steel has a high fatigue limit and the ability to withstand multiple impact analyses. It has good low-temperature environmental impact toughness.
